Geometry and Analysis, August 25-29, 2008

This conference, to be held at the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, brings together leading specialists on nonlinear wave equations, geometric analysis and general relativity. Among the topics to be covered are Ricci flow, conformal geometry, nonlinear wave equations, black hole uniqueness and stability, as well as aspects of the constraint equations and the initial value problem for the Einstein equations.

Alexandru Ionescu (Wisconsin): On the uniqueness of stationary black holes in vacuum.
Sergiu Klainerman (Princeton): A Breakdown criterion in general relativity
Bruce Kleiner (Yale): Local collapsing of 3-manifolds with a lower curvature bound.
Heinz-Otto Kreiss (KTH): Initial boundary value problems for second order systems.
Joachim Krieger (UPenn): New results on singularity formation for critical wave equations.
Dan Lee (Duke): The Riemannian Penrose inequality in dimensions less than 8.
Frank Merle (Paris): Sharp condition for global existence for energy critical nonlinear wave equation
Jan Metzger (Albert Einstein Institute): Marginally trapped surfaces and apparent horizons.
Frank Pacard (Paris): Extremal domains for the first eigenvalue of the Laplacian.
Alan Rendall (Albert Einstein Institute): Cosmological perturbation theory.
Hans Ringström (KTH): Future stability of solutions to the Einstein non-linear scalar field system corresponding to initial data on the n-torus.
Igor Rodnianski (Princeton): Waves and the problem of black hole stability.
Daniel Tataru (Berkeley): Local energy decay and Strichartz estimates on Schwarzchild and Kerr backgrounds.

There is no conference fee.

Participants are advised that early booking of hotels is a necessity, since it is sometimes hard to find a place to stay in Stockholm at short notice.
