Move to new room

Due to the many paticipants we will move to room 32 in building 5. See this map.

Course description

This course will treat graph theory on an advanced level. We will study some common tools in modern graph theory and practice to apply them by solving other problems. The content of the course will mainly (but not exclusively) be gathered from chapters 1,2,3,4,5 and 11 from the excellent book by Diestel. See also the course description.

Förkunskapskrav (prerequisites)

A basic course in Discrete Mathematics and in Linear Algebra. At the end of the course we will study random graphs, so a first course in Probability theory is highly recommended.

Classes

Every Thursday 10.15-12.00, starting September 5, in room 306 (house 6) at the math department of Stockholm University. Here is how to find the way.
Schedule and preliminary plan of the course.

Examination

The examination will be by hand-in-problems and a mandatory referee report. There will be four sets of hand-in-problems. The due dates will be announced in class and will appear on the schedule.
To pass the class, every participant has two read a research paper in graph theory and write a referee report. This will be in December and more details will be given later.

Office hours

The easiest way to ask questions to me is after the class every week. I will also anounce office hours on the Tuesday before the due date of the hand-in-problems.
