Introduction

This document takes for granted that you have already installed a modem and have got windows 98 installed on your system and you have dial up connections on the start menu as follows:

program\accessories\communications


Step 1 getting started

Start the dial up connection by left clicking:
program\accessories\communications\dial-up networking
and when the new connection "wizzard" has started proceed to the next step.
 

(if this isn't the first time you connect a dial-up network this might not
auto start then you will have to click new connection)

Step 2 an easy step

Step 2 is easy just click the next button to proceed to the next step.

Step 3 choose your modem and name your connection

In step 3 you write Mathlan in the top dialogue bar, then choose your modem in the lower dialogue bar
and then click the next button to proceed to the next step.

Step 4 Dial up number

Enter your area code and the dial up number which in our case is 08 for area code
and 7919007 as phone number and then choose your country code
which should be sweden and press the next button to proceed to the next step.

Step 5 Completed the main connection

Click the finish button at the bottom of the page and proceed to the next step.

Step 6 Properties

Right click your new connection in the dial-up network window and choose properties
and then continue to the next step.

Step 7 Server types

Click the Server Types tab and make sure the type of dial up server is:
"ppp: Internet, Windows NT Server, Windows 98"
then check so the allowed network protocols are only Tcp/ip uncheck the other protocols
and click the button marked Tcp/ip settings and then proceed to the next step.

Step 8 Tcp/ip settings

Make sure server assigned ip address is chosen
then mark specify name server addresses
then add the primary DNS 130.237.41.27
and also add 130.237.72.201 as secondary DNS. then click the ok button and proceed to the next step

Step 9 Script
 

Follow the instruction A if you have this script
If you want to make your own script follow instructions B..

Start the scripting tool you should have installed from the windows 95 CD or
downloaded from The internet by clicking:

Program/accessories/Scripting tool

 Mark your new dial-up connection and Fill in the location of your script file in the box to the right
                                        (EX. c:\programs\Mathlan.scp)

Click the apply button and then click close
 then continue to the next step.

Start the scripting tool you should have installed from the windows 95 CD or
downloaded from The internet by clicking:

 /Program/accessories/Scripting tool

Mark your new dial-up connection and Fill in the location of your script file in the box to the right
(EX. c:\programs\Mathlan.scp)

Clicka på Edit and Click Yes when it queris you about using a file that does not exist.

Then write the script between the //

 waitfor "MATHLAN"
 transmit "ppp^M"

(Be careful to use large and small leters in the right places!)
 

save the file and then close the program.

You should now have dropped back to the script program,
 Klick apply and then klick close
Then continue with the next step.

Step 10 Finally ready to connect

Click on your connection that should now be in:

program\accessories\communications\dial-up networking

Then fill in your user name and password and click the connect button.
You should now be connecting to Math lan if you have followed the instructions correctly,
and installed your modem properly.
