On zeros and poles of transfer functions - - state space methods

In this talk after giving an introduction to the so called zero and pole modules of a matrix-valued, rational transfer functions essentially based on the works of Wedderburn, Forney, Wyman, Sain, Conte and Perdon we show how the corresponding Wedderburn-Forney spaces can be computed using state space methods and present some connections between the minimal indices (invariant dynamical indices) and controllability indices determined by the kernel of the transfer function. Not surprisingly, geometric control theory (Basile, Marro, Wohnam,...) plays an important role in the proofs.
