Stefan Almér was born in Stockholm, Sweden in 1975. He received the M.Sc. Degree in Engineering Physics from Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) in 2003. Since February 2003 he is a Ph.D student at the Division of Optimization and Systems Theory. KTH. His advisor is Docent Ulf Jönsson.

The academic year of 2000-2001 he spent as an exchange student at ETH Zuerich, Switzerland.
His Master's thesis was carried out at Bombardier Transportation, Västerås and dealt with control system design for DC-DC converters.
