Optimization of radiation therapy

Researchers: Fredrik Carlsson and Anders Forsgren, in cooperation with Johan Löf (RaySearch Laboratories AB) and Henrik Rehbinder (RaySearch Laboratories AB).

Sponsors: The Swedish Research Council (VR) and RaySearch Laboratories AB.

This is an industrial graduate student project, carried out jointly between RaySearch Laboratories AB and the Division of Optimization and Systems Theory, Department of Mathematics, KTH. The specific goal of the project is to develop tailored optimization tools that are suitable for optimization problems that arise within radiation therapy. In addition, we intend to look at the biological models used and the formulations of the optimization problems that arise. The focus of the research carried out has been on efficient approximate solution of intensity modulated radiation therapy optimization problems.
