Stability tests based on eigenvalue loci for piecewise linear systems

In this talk, we consider stability problem of bimodal piecewise linear systems. We here focus on eigenvalue loci of subsystems to investigate the stability and do not investigate any Lyapunov approaches. We derive a necessary condition and a sufficient condition for stability. The conditions are given in terms of the eigenvalue loci and the observability of subsystems. Furthermore, we present two necessary and sufficient stability conditions for the planar systems. The first one is characterized by the eigenvalue loci of subsystems. The second one consists of a condition for each subsystem and a coupling condition, and they are given in terms of coefficients of characteristic polynomials of subsystems.
