Robustness of periodic systems
Robustness problems for Linear Time Periodic (LTP) systems appear in
many engineering applications. Some examples are analysis of
1. | rotating machineries, |
2. | harmonic disturbances in electric networks, |
3. | bending and torsion vibrations of beams subject to parametric
excitation.
|
There is thus a need for extensions of concepts such as the Nyquist
criterion, mu-analysis, and integral quadratic constraints to LTP
systems. We will give a brief overview of some methods that have been
proposed for analysis of LTP systems. Special emphasis will be given to
a new method that is based on integral quadratic constraints and convex
optimization.
We will then continue to discuss ongoing research and possible future
research directions in the area of periodic systems. This will include
a discussion on robustness and perturbation bounds for periodic
trajectories and limit cycles.
