May 22. Here are the solutions to the exam.  Rexam is scheduled on  Wednesday August 21, 2013, 14:00-19:00.

March 7. Homework 2 has been posted. It is to be handed in no later than Friday, 22nd of March.

Feb 22. Suggested exercises for lectures 5 and 6 are posted.

Feb 14. Homework 1 has been posted. It is to be handed in no later than Friday, 1st of March

Feb 8. Suggested exercises for lectures 3 and 4 are posted.

Feb 1. We use Lang's algebra. However there are many other books on Galois theory.
Erik Vesterlund has the following suggestions: Cox' "Galois Theory" is very good, "Exploratory Galois Theory" by Swallow is also good. (The ambitious student may also be interested in the exposition by Valibouze, available for free here).

The course is devided into two parts. The first part will be  taught by Wojciech Chacholski. The last lecture of this part will be given on March 8. The second part will be taught by Tilman BauerYou can read about all the rules

We will use the book: Algebra by Serge Lang, published by Springer-Verlag
