chapter 1: section 1.6. IS NOT REQUIRED EXCEPT FOR eq. (1.16).
chapter 2: section 2.6.3. ESTIMATION THEORY can be skipped for the exam, but is important to know
for many purposes !
chapter 3: sections 3.1., and 3.4.2, and 3.4.3 are those to study.

THERE ARE TWO EDITIONS OF THE TEXTBOOK. BOTH THE SECOND EDITION AND
THE FIRST EDITION OF 1995 CAN BE USED FOR STUDY IN THIS COURSE. ALL COURSE INSTRUCTIONS AND PLANS ARE WRITTEN IN TERMS OF THE SECOND EDITION.
A FEW MAIN DIFFERENCES BETWEEN FIRST AND SECOND EDITION:
- CHAPTERS I - VI of the first edition are (for our purposes) equivalent to chapters 1-6 in the second edition.
- THERE IS A NEW CHAPTER 7, most of which is not included in this course, follow this webpage for details.
